It’s a chilly morning this morning and those of us with any kind of autoimmune arthritis certainly know about it!! Please look after yourselves, layer up, drink warm drinks, keep moving if you can, and keep warm! Sending stiff socially distanced hugs all round ❤️
PS things that help me that may help you:
- Large Thermos flask filled with a litre of tea in the morning so I don’t have to reboil the kettle all day

- Leggings under jeans, long socks, second pair of thick fluffy socks, fingerless gloves, bobble hat atop head at all times
- Setting an alarm to get out of my desk chair and stretch/move for 30 seconds if I’m sitting down for 45 minutes or more (rare that I sit still this long without pottering about somehow but it does happen!)

- Breakfast porridge! Entirely anecdotal but delicious and feels good!
- Moved my office to the smallest room in the house (this was a bit of work!)so I can shut the door and turn a fan heater on intermittently and be toasty all day

- Electric blanket in bed. I also have one for the sofa but haven’t cracked it out yet this year. Suspect it’s Time
- Keeping curtains closed. I don’t care that it makes my house look like a knocking shop, this place has enormous windows and they leak heat out of them. I open the curtain in my office for daylight, the rest of them stay shut as much as possible when it’s cold to keep it out.
- Have I mentioned tucking in? Like tuck your vest/cami into your leggings, your leggings into your longish socks, your long sleeved top into your jeans, your jeans into your second pair of fluffy socks... tuck tuck tuck everything in so there’s nowhere for the chill to get ya
- Microwaveable heat pads. An odd sock, some rice or dried peas, and a hair tie with no metal in makes for a decent DIY one. Zap. Snuggle. Ahhhh.

- Hot water bottles!
- And listen to your body. Rest if you need to rest. Take your meds. Allow for recovery time or for things taking longer without giving yourself a hard time about it.

Off to take my own advice! Feel free to add your own below❤️❤️
Oh also! My fave thermals are from George at Asda, a Nigel Slater-esque black turtleneck and matching leggings. Lightweight but extremely warm and importantly - cheap enough to get several sets! M&S mens thermals come a close second but I save those for Really Cold Days 😁
Also gives a whole new and marginally less thrilling meaning to ‘answering the door to the postman in your undies’ when said undies cover you from your ankles to your neck!! 🤭
