At risk of getting flamed on here, I am going to tweet this anyway: I see that "Defund the Police" is in the news again because Obama had the temerity to say that "Defund the Police" actually is NOT a good slogan when you're trying to get the general public to consider 1/7
police reform.

For as much as the Far Left and other Progressives complain that the Democrats are terrible at messaging, they certainly fail to see that "Defund the Police" is poor messaging. I truly believe that most people believe in substantive police reform. 2/7
But when the general public hears "Defund the Police", they think, "OMG! You're going to take all the money away?!? But then crime will go up!"

That's not the goal of "Defund the Police". 3/7
The intent is to reallocate police resources to intervention, mental health resources, and other policies that reduce police violence and misconduct against citizens. But you don't get that from "Defund the Police". 4/7
If you disagree with my assertion that "Defund the Police" is a terrible slogan that fails to effectively convey the policy goals, then ask yourself this. 5/7
What do you think of when you hear conservatives scream, "Defund Planned Parenthood!" because they think Planned Parenthood is a baby killing factory?

Be truthful. Don't you think they want to take ALL the money away and shut Planned Parenthood down? 6/7
"Defund the Police" is not a good slogan to garner BROAD public support. It’s okay to admit that. And not everyone who disagrees with the actual slogan disagrees with the intent behind it. 7/7
