The listening hour begins.

I thought tonight I'd listen to songs that dropped in 2020, brand new music only, that spoke directly to what life was like during the most incredibly unique and batshit year that I've lived through in my 49 years.

Let's go.
We'll start easy. To my total shock the Poppy album "I disagree" really grew on me...

"Down, let it all burn down
Burn it to the ground
We'll be safe and sound
When it all burns down
(You can be anyone you want to be)"
Prescient songs about 2020 Listening Hour marches on...

The West is Dead

"The Dalai Lama wore Dolce & Gabanna in vermilion red
& the West is dead
The apocalypse will be so compassionate
The West is dead"
My listening hour - dedicated only to songs from 2020 that spoke directly to the year that was - is starting to get good.

"Nothing is safe.
Nothing is sacred.
Nothing to pray for.
Nothing is safe.
Truth like death comes for everyone.
For the do-gooders the no-gooders used & then abused
For the truth tellers tied to the whippin' post
Left beaten, battered, bruised
For the ones whose body hung from a tree like a piece of strange fruit
last words to the firing squad was, "Fuck you too"
Robert Cray talking about life under our worm fuck president. Songs from 2020 about 2020, still going...

"Get him out."
(If You Can't Do it Good Do It Hard - Against All Logic ft Lydia Lunch)

Yes. This is a song about 2020. Dnt@me.

Because if you can't beat 'em Kill 'em
If you can't kill 'em fuck 'em
If you can't fuck 'em kill 'em
If you can't do it good do it hard
Songs from 2020 about 2020, the listening hour rolls on...

It's working.
All the crying & cheating & fucking & stealing & killing
It's working.
It's working.
All the Lying is working.
It's working.
I guess I'll call it there. I'm running out of songs from 2020 that speak so plainly to 2020 and I don't want to be reduced to listening to "Lockdown Blues" by Iceage.

I'm going off list. Good night, void!
