Eliminating objective measures of performance doesn’t usually stop people from measuring, it just forces them to adopt subjective measures instead.

Subjective measures are almost never good news for people who are disenfranchised.

We’re about to watch this play out with the removal of the SAT in many universities.

The SAT is a suboptimal measure in many ways, especially among underrepresented groups.

But it’s about to be replaced with additional focus on grades and extracurriculars. Which are way worse.
It’s not enough to say, “x isn’t a good measure.” You have to replace x with something that is better.

Right now we’re just getting rid of all the measures we have in education and that doesn’t end well.
