William & Kate’s failure to drive global/serious press has nothing to do with Harry & Meghan. Their failures are entirely self-inflicted.
Too many of y’all shared an article today that did have some cheap shots, but in the end went back to the same critiques of the Sussexes. The article went on to use those critiques to defend Kate.
Kate’s “Five big questions” failed because they weren’t Kate’s... and it was obvious. She regurgitated curated talking points and failed to convince most she knew or cared what she was talking about.
Kate had failed because she and her spouse decided that they would be part time senior royals after their wedding despite entering their 30s. Then William had a “job” which meant less royal work. Then since working parents can’t exist...
Kate regularly tops the fewest engagement list. The energy from their wedding is gone. The “magic” of their created love story is gone following affair rumors. Even photos of the kids are driving less and less engagement.
The one thing the article gets right is that apathy is coming. The BRF is entering a phase of no big weddings or births, with the Cambridge kids growing out of their cutesy toddler phases.
Instead of embracing and encouraging the Sussexes they angrily chased them away because at the end of the day they all know it’s coming. The Queen will die. Charles is desperately unpopular. The Cambridge’s are desperately boring. They fucked up, and they know it.
