Last week, I took the pixel mail-order COVID test. I felt like shit at the time. It came back negative

Then, the VA surprisingly came through on a COVID test for me and I figured what the hell, so I kept the appointment and went in on Monday

I have tested positive for COVID
This isn't surprising in the sense that I recently got screamed at by about 40 maskless COVID deniers at the million MAGA march

It's surprising to me because I got that negative test and figured I was fine
I avoided protests, but I hung out with people. Not many people, but people in my germ bubble. Now they're all at risk too

I knew false negatives were a thing but I did it anyway

I feel like absolute shit about this
I'm sharing this because it seems important to know that this can happen

Don't be an asshole like me. Quarantine the full 14 days--not 11, like I did. Get two tests if you can, just in case. The VA swabbed my fucking BRAIN, maybe that's a better kind of test I dunno
I knew I was taking a risk going to DC, but all the same: shout-out to the Groypers and "Patriots" who surrounded me and then shouted directly into my mouth for 15 minutes while I was there
Maybe Michelle Dawson can spare a couple of those tears for me: https://twitter.com/JaredPushner/status/1330596635240525824?s=19
People are asking about when I got each test and what kind of tests they were:

First test was on the 24th (9 days after return). It was the pixel at-home kit where you self swab (I got as deep as I could I swear!! But it was a short swab)
Second test was administered by the VA yesterday, Nov. 30th, 15 days after return. They swabbed my brain. Called this evening

I feel fine, WAY better than I did this time last week. It's probably a very mild case and I anticipate being back at it as soon as my quarantine ends!
