This is a really important piece from @blackvoices_uw on their (and many other students') frustrations with Chancellor Blank's level of engagement with racial justice and inclusion on campus.

One thing to note: https://twitter.com/blackvoices_uw/status/1333486864242708483
Per the story, Black Voices' meeting with Blank came together after they were left out of a meeting with the Cardinal and Herald early this fall.

Blank's advice to the editors was to "be just as aggressive" (as us at the newspapers) in requesting meetings with the Chancellor.
The thing is, at least at the Cardinal: we didn't have to request it.

UW comms reached out to US to set that meeting up, as it is something of a tradition.
To be fair: Meredith McGlone, who runs media relations at the UW and set up our meeting w/ Blank, took ownership of Black Voices being left out. (And it's worth noting that other student news outlets like @WSUM were also not at the meeting)
But still, Blank apparently misunderstood how and why she came to be speaking with students. And I think the assumption that students — especially reporters of color — should be/are responsible for demanding they be included in these conversations is meaningful.
