In this spread sheet are the publishers to avoid. Please do not purchase products from them. None of it goes to your favourite artists who work hard to make the series you love.
I'd like to especially point out that @ShopeeMY & FB are littered with (both intl and local) bootleg sellers who sell these comics for less than a fraction of what they're worth.
The latest trend has been to sell e-manga/digital manga for dirt cheap. (i.e example below). ):

Please be wary of extremely cheap prices and always double check with your seller if the books and merchandise you're purchasing are original. I hope that with the sheets, it can be easier for you to verify bootleg books even if your seller isn't honest with you.
I think it goes without saying that the manga industry is a very difficult industry for mangakas. They usually work with little pay & no rest to bring their works to life. As fans of their works, I think the least we can do is support them by buying original.
At the very least, I don't think RM5.30 is even close to being worth the kind of work that went into 14 volumes of anything, esp not for a series like Tokyo Ghoul as show in the example ): It broke my heart seeing how cheaply it was priced. That's how much they think TG is worth.
I even see titles that can be enjoyed for free (like webtoon comics) being sold digitally on shopee for dirt cheap. Which is weird. Why would you pay for something that you can read LEGALLY for FREE? Bc these sellers don't care. They just want your money. So, why give it to them
In fact, fans are often rewarded when we do buy original. Do you notice how our fellow Thai animanga friends has their own Animate store in Bangkok? Or how our S'porean neighbours has multiple Kino outlets on their island? Coincidence? No. They just buy more originals than we do
I know there's many other factors that comes into it, but one of the ways for the Japanese companies to know there is market potential is if there's market in the first place. If all our money is going to these bootleg companies, then they're not going to get the real data.
A good example of how important buying power is, the time local fans supported the Demon Slayer/Kimetsu no Yaiba UT release thru uniqlo. Did you notice how quickly we were given a second round series of it? Why? Because we bought them. They're more than willing to supply us more.
Case in point, I understand not everyone has the money to shell out for their favourite goods. As a freelancer, so do I. But instead of wasting whatever little money I have to buy bootleg, I keep that money a little longer so i can buy original when I do decide to spend my money.
This way, even though I don't have many, I know every hard-earned money I spend goes to the rightful place. Not some middle man who is taking advantage of my favourite artist's hardwork and fans' love for the series.
Either way, there's not much we can do other than starve these bootleg sellers and report them. I hope that these excel sheets will prove to be good resources for you in your shopping endeavours. Until we have more respect for art in the local scene, the industry can't flourish.
I personally would LOVE to see local publishing houses BUY the rights to license and publish our favourite manga titles in Bahasa Melayu or Mandarin or Tamil. But until they choose to do it legally, selling illegally should not be an option.
Imagine the kind of doors we'd open, not just for fellow fans like us, but artists in our local community if international companies felt safer to invest in our country.
So let's show our love for our favourite series and support original!

If you know of any other information I can add onto the excel sheets, please DM me and let me know! I'd be happy to upkeep the sheets so everyone can use them for their own benefits.
Feel free to share this thread anyway you like!

Shop safe and shop original, everyone! Thank you for reading until the end!

Also, needless to say, if any of the links in the excel sheets are broken, please let me know. Unless it's the shopee links from the bootleg list. That might mean they were removed/they unlist themselves.
