I had never heard the term "long hauler" used to describe someone who stayed sick for weeks or months after testing positive for COVID-19. If you think 2020 has been rough for you, you should hear Jennifer Williams and Kari Rodriguez explain what they've been going through.
They were both healthy, active women... and then they got sick. Jennifer often forgets what she’s doing, has brain fog and leg spasms, and wakes up gasping for air. Kari now has high blood pressure and is taking epilepsy medication for migraines and nerve pain.
Doctors don't know much about post-COVID-19 syndrome. They say once a vaccine is available, they'll be able to study persisting symptoms. Although they're miserable now, both Jennifer and Kari are hopeful science will catch up and help other COVID-19 victims in the future.
