Folks, I am incredibly, incredibly excited to finally try this. It's time to play Flight Simulator aboard a flight.
Let's goooo
The video of the takeoff refuses to upload over airplane wifi but I'm having a good time
Aw - media refuses to upload but the flights are pretty synced up right now. I turned the other way to get onto course after takeoff (damnit) but beyond that it's pretty much the same. Clouds entry was seconds apart, climbing out of them was maybe 30-ish seconds difference. Wild.
I wonder whether I can trust the autopilot enough to sleep for a few hours.
Seems the real flight and flight simulator flight are both entering the oceanic track at pretty similar entry points, my flight being about 5 minutes ahead right now. I'll slow it down a bit and take a nap.
Update:

The airplane I'm on is now 02:25 hours out from Amsterdam.

The airplane I'm flying in Flight Simulator, the same route, departing simultaneously, is 02:29 our from Amsterdam.

This game is wild. The clouds look the same.
Hell, the distance to the clouds even seems right? I see the same stars???
I reached Ireland in the sim about 6 minutes before I reached it in real life
Decision-making time: do I trust the Flight Simulator 2020 AI and autopilot to execute a good landing, or do I speed up and do the landing myself a little ahead of time?
For now, the top of descent is still a few minutes ahead, we're at 40kft both IRL and in-sim, and I'm still a few minutes ahead.
oh my god we started descent almost at the exact same second that's hilarious
I just realized I'll lose my wifi connection soon, and if I don't have 4G/5G on my phone by then, I don't know whether the game will kick me out for losing connection?
The lights inside turned on but I think we might end up hitting the coast at the same time
The sunrise x2
Shit, different runways
I won
The sim was about 4 minutes fast. Weather matched, light matched, stars matched. Wild. Absolutely staggering.
This was takeoff, since that didn't upload earlier. I enabled the AI-self control the moment I felt acceleration.
