When I commented on the Mustang Mach E performance range, someone answered that the non-performance version has 300mi EPA.
So I sat and did the math and OMG, the gap is much worse than I imagined, and will make Ford bankrupt!

2. First let's compare apples to apples.
The M4 LR has 326 mi EPA and 4.8sec 0-60
The Mach ER has 300 and 4.8.
Not bad, right?
WRONG!
The Mach E with 300 mi is the RWD, with a 6.1 sec 0-60.
Apples to apples means the eAWD Mach E which only has 270 mi EPA

To achieve the M3s range, the Mach E would need a 106 kWh battery!!!

4.. The upcoming Mach E is 41% less efficient than the M3.
Charging a Mach E with MY LR range would cost 41% more and take 41% more time than the MY, IF you can even find a 250kW charger.
Its battery pack would also be much heavier, so even more batteries woud be required

5.. But that's not why Ford is doomed.
If a 326mi Mach E requires 31kWh more than the MY LR, then at $120/kWh it's $3720 for the extra batteries alone - a huge chunk of any margin they can make!
Meanwhile, Berlin MYs will cost much less, increase margin and range

6.. But let's leave Tesla aside. I mean, although Apple takes 80% of smartphone profits, there CAN be good life among the Android crowd!

7.. Again - faraway Tesla is not the competition - it's Chinese brands such as XPeng, Polestar, Volvo, Nio and others that will offer similar or better products at a much lower price.
It's not just lower labor - it's the batteries and motors. The others are WAY more efficient!
