Any outlet reporting that Trump is planning to immediately announce a second campaign the moment he loses the shield of Presidential immunity is derelict in their responsibility if they do not point out he is also facing the threat of serious criminal prosecution.

Such an announcement would once again see Trump making it about the politics of investigators by announcing a political campaign four years before an election, clearly hoping to protect himself by using law enforcement’s fears of seeming political by charging him.

It is not speculative. Outlets reported serious pieces about prospective targets of the Mueller probe with less details than we have on possible Trump charges. New York State authorities have a 2 year grand jury probe into his dealings; Mueller outlined 4 obstruction offenses.

It won’t be an easy decision for any law enforcement agency to decide to prosecute Trump. You’ll never hear me say its cut-and-dry. But for news outlets to normalize a “4 year campaign” as a result of his sad feelings and not as part of an effort to avoid prosecution is reckless.
