Claudia writes that she was fired because she outed Larry Summers for his own ongoing abuse, recently, not just back when he said nasty things as President of Harvard. Heather & Larry have a sick symbiotic professional relationship, which I will elaborate on below.

Heather is a graduate of the New School's Econ PhD program, a traditionally heterodox program that has placed many people on more policy-oriented tracks in progressive organizations. That's how she came up.

People from that background have an ingrained inferiority complex, for very good reason. The economics profession is a grotesque orgy of hierarchy and unmerited prestige. Here's Jennifer Doleac replicating it just the other day.
/3
With that background, understand that Heather relied and relies on Larry Summers's validation as a "real economist" to be a plausible appointee to high office. In return, what she offers him is excusing and covering up his awful record on gender.
/4
That what someone like Heather does and is expected to do is to 1. accumulate professional capital on gender equality, and then 2. put it to work covering up for Larry Summers in order to be promoted is the kind of sick place that DC think tank world is.
/5
Claudia threatened that, both because her own advocacy for gender equality within economics was so obviously more genuine, and second because it specifically threatened Summers, whom Heather is supposed to protect. So she did.
