1/ Some Brexit unrest on the EU side? Capitals are beginning to question whether the trade deal negotiated by Michel Barnier will be an acceptable compromise. One source asks: 'The question is will what Barnier and Frost negotiate stand up in capitals?'
2/ The frustration appears to be born out of the lack of information being relayed to the outside world. Barnier has been very broad-brush with his recent state of play briefings to EU27 perm reps and MEPs. Some states are nervous they won't be able to sell the deal domestically.
3/ Given last week's gloomy assessment, EU capitals fear it will take 'some large concessions' to bridge the gaps on the main sticking points – fish and level playing field. Source adds: 'It remains to be seen whether some EU capitals are able to sell them back home.'
4/ EU states are also keen to ensure Ursula von der Leyen doesn't overplay her hand in the talks. Angela Merkel yesterday touted her as a dealmaker Berlin can trust. But others want to stress to the Commission chief the EU has 'moved enough' to facilitate a Brexit compromise.
