We need to do a better job of teaching government and economics in our K-12 schools. As a teacher, I know how state standards have tied our hands.

I am eager to see what a new U.S. Secretary of Education will do, but alas, much has to do w/ our states.
We need to immerse our children in civility in government, how it functions and their incredibly role as a citizen.

Our children should be learning MORE than just English.

We need to surround them in art, music, technology, science, math, agriculture and opportunities!
We need to STOP teaching to the test and start teaching them to enrich their own lives and the world.
