The new AG could just shut it down as transparently political and frivolous. But the easier course for Biden's administration might just be to roll their eyes, say "ok fine, let us know when you've got a report" and ignore it while it burns itself out.

Barr delayed the notification until after the election, but it would seem to be more consistent with the regs to have actually waited until after the election, especially when there is obviously zero urgency.
