One thing I learned is that to really find out about Arab-American activism in the 1980s, the best records are with pro-Israel organizations. They documented the community's advocacy efforts better than the community did itself. We need to reclaim their archives of us.

I had no idea Israel jailed the documentarian Joan Mandell for IMPERSONATING A JOURNALIST and STEALING A SPENT BULLET! The ADL thought this was damning somehow. I met her several times and she never once told me any of this.
