Players of hard board-games (Magic the Gathering / Warhammer), need to put more effort into making the hobby autonomous from the Corporations that own the IP. These are the games played EVERYWHERE, yet we are paying, what amounts to rent, to people who hate us.
The obvious solution to the MTG problem is proxy decks (I have one made entirely out of classical art). We need to normalize people playing with entirely proxied decks.

There is an economy of scale problem here, the only solution is to have some rival make a very similar grim-dark fantasy-sci-fi line of miniatures. The competition would do much to keep GW where it should be, as a craft supplier not the owner of its customers' imaginations.
