It's a 3-panel banner. First shows (presumably) Kevin Peterson, Jr., with what looks to be a lit joint. The second shows Kevin with a grip of fanned out cash. ..

The third is presumably a tweet from Kevin which states, "I hang with pimps gang members n drug dealers."

I would like to kindly remind @MrAndyNgo that Jesus kept company with sinners, prostitutes, and tax collectors.

First, I would hardly call what Portland has done a "riot." No buildings, to this date, have burned down. There have been no "antifa" or BLM-adjacent violent mobs that walk down the streets looking. . .

This is a right-wing fantasy that has been drummed up in order to justify the outlandish intimidation tactics and the violence the police perpetrate against legimate protesters.

Secondly, an unjustified fatal shooting is called murder in this country.

Law and order and all that.

Additional context: The mayor of these Portland residents, Ted Wheeler, remains silent and has not condemned this kill list which directly targets his residents, which he has a sworn duty to protect.

Geographical context: Vancouver, Washington, is directly across a bridge from Portland. It is immaterial to suggest that borders matter in this instance.

Misdirection by passive voice: "Clark County deputies shot at Peterson more than 30 times, killing him."

Eyewitness and video evidence state otherwise, but @MrAndyNgo prefers to platform official sources that are invested with protecting the police officers. Failure to do the work, but Andy claims he's a journalist.

To my best knowledge this is a lie. Peterson was on the phone with his partner when he was shot. It is possible the police mistook the phone for a gun, but the unwillingness of the cops to admit a possible mistake is half the problem here.

Lie by lack of context: This was a drug sting. He was set up, then shot when he ran away. Additionally, I don't know why he needed to sell the drugs. This possibility is obscured by judgments that fail to ask good faith questions.

Any time I see a detail like this, I know it's likely a lie. It's oddly specific in a place that doesn't matter to a general audience. Why does the caliber matter?

So this should read "are the officers who shot Peterson."

If he was so violent, why did he even bother running away?

Two photos follow. These claim to be Snapchats taken just prior to the police shooting Peterson. One shows the text "Crackers catch me n act then ima feed the law" and then "i told her thuggn with steezy".

The other says "Get em off me fast" and shows a couple of baggies. Presumably these are baggies of drugs.

Well, if he was set up for a drug sting, that would kind of follow.

But why does Kevin Peterson, Jr., the beloved father of a 4-month-old, deserve to die for social media posts?

The folks up in Michigan who were threatening to execute the GOVERNOR still got the dignity of arrest.

Where's Peterson's dignity?

Or for drugs? Or for running away? Or for standing on a sidewalk?

This is why what @MrAndyNgo does is so dangerous. He legitimizes the killing of human beings by presenting "evidence" in the form of random photos and events and twisting the narrative into justification for hate.

THIS is what social media enables.

THIS is what is so damn hard to moderate.
