Today in a judgement which will have global implications, the high court ruled that teenagers are unlikely to comprehend how "experimental" puberty blocking drugs will damage their fertility & sexual function. As Keira Bell knows too well. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/times2/keira-bell-i-couldnt-sit-by-while-so-many-others-made-the-same-mistake-gb03n3mlr
For years the Tavistock ignored whistleblowers concerned about hasty & activist-led medical interventions on minors. It refused to publish research, to explain a 3000% increase in referral of girls, many autistic. This judicial review has cast welcome sunlight upon its practices.
This is the 1st court ruling on puberty blockers. But in Sweden, Australia & elsewhere, the ethics of these drugs are being reassessed. What many clinicians (& Keira) believe is young people need intense psychotherapeutic treatment before life & body-changing decisions are made.
Here is the full high court judgement. It is extremely thorough and interesting, especially the conclusions. https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Bell-v-Tavistock-Judgment.pdf
