Dr. Jorge Salinas, Hospital Epidemiologist at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, says he believes case growth will continue but he is growing more optimistic.

Citing advanced virus distribution talks, there is an end in sight he says in a virtual FB Live town hall Q&A.
Dr. Salinas: "There is truly light at the end of the tunnel. And we just need to hunker down a little bit longer and prevent as many hospitalizations and deaths as possible."
Dr. Salinas: "We know more about COVID, we know how to prevent it, we have more treatment options, and we will very soon be administering vaccines to people."
Until wide vaccine distribution, though, Dr. Salinas said people need to limit gatherings to just those inside the household. It might be safe, he says, to gather with another family that is following COVID-19 precautions, too. Risks escalate as the number gathering grows.
Beyond limiting numbers, limiting durations of the gatherings, ensuring good ventilation and wearing face coverings can help improve risk.
Dr. Salinas: "If you limit your gatherings to a very small group of people that are following the similar public health recommendations that you are, it may be acceptable."
Dr. Salinas says, perhaps, by July 4 people will be able to celebrate the holiday with their families without COVID-19 being concerned. "That's just something wonderful to look forward to," he said. Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc. will "probably" be normal next year, he said.
