This week across JRF and @theJRHT we’re marking International Day of Disabled People and celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. [THREAD] #IDPWD2020 #IDPD2020
Lots of progress has been made since the Act was passed but many barriers still exist in our society and disabled people are significantly more likely to be living in poverty.
Even before the #COVID19 pandemic struck, nearly half of all individuals in poverty lived in a household where someone was disabled. #IDPWD2020 #IDPD2020
As an organisation, we’re working to increase the numbers of disabled people we employ, and we have become a Disability Confident Employer.
We are also campaigning for the Government to extend the £20 uplift to #UniversalCredit to people on legacy benefits, most of whom are disabled. #KeepTheLifeline
