This is really lovely! So glad to have Elliot with us. https://twitter.com/TheElliotPage/status/1333820783655837701
Every channel in my trans lady friends Slack is now an Elliot Page fan channel.
In your story on this, you don't need to use Elliot's old name!

a.) He still has the same last name.

b.) If you're REALLY WORRIED people won't get it, you can say "Oscar-nominated for his turn in Juno and currently starring in Netflix's The Umbrella Academy." We will GET IT.
To the (small number of) cis people saying, “It’s OK to do use Elliot’s old name one time so people know who he is!”: This is not really a thing you get to decide.

I get that some people might not know. That’s the point. YOU DO NOT NEED TO KNOW his old name. His name is Elliot.
I used to be in the same boat! I remember when Laura Jane Grace came out in 2012, I argued with a trans friend that we should be able to use her old name because she’s a public person. I was wrong. All anyone needs to know is that she heads up Against Me.
Trans people, even famous ones, get to choose what the world knows about us, and it’s just simple courtesy to refer to us the way we ask to be referred to. To do otherwise is to imply we are getting away with something.

That’s true even if we, like, rob a bank.
This has been Trans 101 with Emily.
