This is a good thread. To continue the train of thought, let me tell you about one of my dad's friends when he was a kid. We'll call him Walter. (Not his real name). https://twitter.com/pookleblinky/status/1333582339960672262
Uncle Walter's mom had German measles (aka Rubella, the R in MMR vaccine) when she was pregnant with him back in the late fifties/ early sixties.
They both survived, but uncle Walter's eyesight was never real good. He was a petite, slight boy. One day in his mid teens he went swimming, I think he was with family or friends.
While he was under the water, his corneas ruptured, too weak to take the pressure of the water. He's been completely blind ever since.
A vaccine wasn't available until 1969.
Uncle Walter has done fine for himself--he went to university, had a family, enjoying a good life. It bears mentioning his family was wealthy and could afford all the accommodations he used to compensate for his sight loss.
But the horror of what happened to him is now blessedly avoidable. We don't yet know what effects covid has in the long term. We don't quite know yet what it does to a human fetus, either.
So, you know. You have the choice to take quarantines and lockdowns seriously. You have the choice to mask up, to wash your hands, to get the vaccines when they are available.
Or you could choose not to.

But the choice you make for yourself has knock on effects for you and others outside of you, some of which you may never see coming.
