The Son of God is eternally begotten of the Father. There was no change in God, there was no time when the Son was not. The "begetting" did not take place in time, but in eternity - which means that past, present, and future cannot apply to this begetting -
The Father beget the Son in such a way that everything you can say about God you can say about the Son - infinite, almighty, of Himself, eternal, unchanging, sovereign, uncomposed (simple), everywhere present, singular. The Son is not another God, but another person
It is THIS person that became flesh in the womb of Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. But he did not cease being God, nor did he abandon his divine attributes. He is and remains true and eternal God, and also the Son of David after the flesh.
