/ EOH: I’m not a primary care giver. I don’t have children. I attend courts Mon-Fri. Often instructed the night before. Sat I’m on a rota for remand hearings that sit until the afternoon. If I’m not on call I’m catching up on work I haven’t finished from the night before. https://twitter.com/crimelinelaw/status/1333477512278585349
/ Sunday I spend preparing for Monday or finishing off work from Sat. I have little time to relax and spend most my spare time thinking and worrying about the next case. I often struggle to sleep and wake up thinking about cases.
/ EOH proposes more hours of work. I don’t know where or how I would fit this into my schedule. I don’t have any free time to lose. So I will lose my sleep time instead. This is before you consider the months it takes to get paid often equating to below minimum wage for a case
/ I have spent hours agonising over in order to ensure whoever the client is, they get the best representation I can provide. This is in the context of Criminal legally aided work.
/ I CANNOT imagine then adding primary care responsibilities or other commitments to my plate aswell. We want a diverse legal profession. Then we must support our diverse legal profession.
