Too many people saw the 2015 election as their social capital gathering event, so they simply jumped on what appeared popular ("GEJ must go"). They did not know or care about what was really going on.

This Japheth Omojuwa and Feyi Fawehinmi demographic was our Achilles heel.
It's the same behaviour with #EndSARS . Some people saw it as their big ticket to social capital and simply gorged themselves on the fat pickings of clout for 2 weeks.

Now that the visually spectacular event is over, we're yet again seeing who is who.

It's always like this.
There was the Tolu Ogunlesi set from Occupy Nigeria that wrote their own social capital cheque and cashed it in. There was the Ogbeni Dipo set from the 2015 election. End SARS has just minted a new set. This thing happens in cycles.

Stop anointing leaders from events FFS.
It's always like this. they spot an opportunity to boost their profile using some socially popular event (fuel subsidy removal protest, GEJ Must Go, End SARS, etc) as a vehicle.

They grab the capital, exchange it for proximity to power, and become....
You can draw this all the way back to student union protests under Abacha and how people like Dino Melaye used SUG politics as a vehicle to get into mainstream politics only to manifest what they really are.

It's a never-ending fractal pattern. Aren't you tired yet?!
