While @nycfc remains absolutely silent on the credible & detailed sexual harassment allegations made against them, they are quietly releasing this statement—which contradicts or ignores large elements of the victim’s account—to fans who complain.
You can compare the accounts here. @nycfc’s account skips over the victim’s account of at least one formal interview with her supervisor over this, the fact that many incidents were public, and were discussed by unrelated staff, that one incident resulted in a police report.
Not to mention that it skips over the fact that one abuser—who earlier #NYCFC statements seem to confirm as the subject of a formal censure by management over this abuse—IS STILL EMPLOYED BY THE CLUB.
It’s hard, therefore, to take the club’s counsel’s statement seriously, or to view their response as serious if it so fails to address important parts of the victim’s complaint.
For those interested, many #NYCFC supporters have been battling the front office for years, including TrueBluesNYCFC, of which I’m a part. I was supposed to send out our latest demands to the club Monday, but there’s still time for other supporters & neutrals to help amplify https://twitter.com/nycfirm/status/1331032747029245954
I was literally dragged out of a 2019 match by the NYPD at the direction of the current #NYCFC head of gameday operations for holding a 3x5 “NYCFC Antifascists” flag.
So they’ve been working hard alienate supporters for some time now. No one knows quite why.
