The good news is 46% of responses think it’s appropriately expensive to make a fully funded audio fiction
The bad news is over 50% of responses think it costs less than $5k to make a show where you pay your actors https://twitter.com/dallas_hawthorn/status/1333418188709761025

Over half of the audience thinks that making an audio drama WITH PAID TALENT costs less than $5000
I’m gonna break down the LOWEST APPROXIMATE fees of S2 for y’all, which EXCLUDES payment for the Writer and the Director (I’m not paying myself)
Artwork: $200
Script Edit: $150
Sound Design: $400
Six cast members: $75-300 (each)
Internet fees: $50
IGG fees: $500
Total: $2500

Keep in mind this was my lowest possible estimation when I was planning how much I could afford to pay everyone and how much I could reasonably crowdfund during a pandemic
If I had to pay a SINGLE Writer and a SINGLE voice director at indie rates the total would be closer to $5000 for the amount of work
This doesn’t include if any actors or any crew members need access to paid software or new microphones. It’s also calculated for a 6 episode season of a show and not a longer show
Long story short don’t shame creators for not being able to pay unnamed ensemble roles because were already planning on doing all the above out of pocket and we aren’t billionaires.
