In this section I will share about Shinzo Abe's Legacy.
1. His victories in six general elections (three lower house and three upper house elections since 2012) were helped by Japan's weak and fragmented opposition parties.
2. The "Abenomics" reforms that bear its name seek to revive the Japanese economy through bold monetary and fiscal policies, while pursuing structural changes in areas such as agriculture, corporate governance, energy, the labor market and women's jobs.
3. Make significant changes to security policy and increase support for a liberal international order when traditional defenders such as the United States and Britain retreat.
4. Abe's success has been achieved through gradual reforms, rather than a sudden shift from the consensual political model that had characterized post-war Japanese politics.
5. Among these include the creation of the Japan National Security Council (NSC) in 2013; the passage of a new State Secrecy Law in 2014 and provisions allowing the Japanese Self-Defense Forces to participate in collective security operations;
6. Then, the increase in Japan's annual defense budget; development of a more flexible defense doctrine; and the procurement of new military equipment, including F-35 fighters and Izumo-class destroyers capable of enhancing Japan's regional power projection capabilities.
7. Defense Minister Taro Kono spoke ambitiously about the possibility of Japan joining the Five Eyes intelligence partnership between Britain,US,Australia,New Zealand and Canada-an indication of how Abe's "pursuit of peace" approach has normalized. New in Japanese foreign policy.
8. His success in maintaining close ties with Donald Trump and using diplomacy as a tool to offset some of America's transactional presidential intimidation tactics.
9. Abe has been a diplomatic innovator and demonstrated a capacity for strategic thinking, marking a sharp shift from previous prime ministers, who were often reactive to external events or tended to be passive about following Washington's lead.
10. Abe's changes are reflected in a number of new strategic partnerships with India and Australia; defense agreements with Southeast Asian countries; ambitious bilateral defense and foreign partnerships with Britain and France.
11. Abe's foreign policy innovations were matched by a series of bold multilateral and bilateral trade initiatives, in which the prime minister faced major domestic political constituencies, particularly in the agricultural sector.
12. Japan's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Q2 this year remained, at ¥ 485 trillion, down from ¥ 504 trillion recorded in the January- March 2013 quarter, shortly after Abe took office.
This is the last chapters about Shinzo Abe.
