Just off đź“ž to my GP practice - online option for videocall booking has been removed so I phoned. Reception staff informed 'yes the government is trying to phase those out, they want people to come back in-person' #telehealth
I expressed my surprise, you know, considering this and all https://twitter.com/RACGP/status/1332247876290957312?s=19
Reception staff said 'oh, OK then I guess it must be a practice decision'. What you could do is (list of unsuitable options for current problem). After some exhausting self-advocacy, I'm waiting to hear back to see whether I may have some 'special treatment'. #telehealth
I just want to be able to do life stuff, like get my paid work done in mostly daytime hours instead of in the evenings because all this admin stuff consumes So Much Time and So Much Energy. Back to work now on recruitment for a #fatigue trial. The irony!
#PatientExperience
Update: I got my videocall. 5min after appointment time - let's call this a 15min block at my end to receive the medical care I needed. Had I have gone in person this would have been 3h out of my day once I got ready etc and recovered the energy to get back to work after.
HOWEVER.
GP: what else I can do for you?
Me: yes, please let me know how I can book a video consult in future on your system
GP: just book a telephone consult & I'll know you mean video
Me: OK, thanks, but what about everyon..
GP: our system can't support this for everyone
@GregHuntMP @RACGP - GPs need more support to offer #Telehealth everytime it's clinically appropriate & the patient wants to receive care this way. Today saved ~2.75h sick leave. In 2020 I've had 61 med appts - let's say 1/2 telehealth appropriate - that's ~80 hours of sick leave
