Best way: Federal or NYS law to make clear they are employees. Like CA passed, before Uber/Lyft blackmailed & bought their way out.

I support @jessicaramos & others fight to win employee classification & labor rights in NYS.

But NYC is not helpless. 2/6 https://twitter.com/jessicaramos/status/1333567256387854336?s=20
In 2018 @NYCCouncil passed my bill requiring $17.22/hr minimum wage for Uber & Lyft drivers.

The law is working. The app companies have paid their drivers over half-a-billion more.

It does not apply to food delivery workers. But we could make it. 3/6 https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/01/technology/uber-wages-new-york.html
Uber/Lyft/Doordash are using monopoly power to bully us. To earn massive profits by cheating workers of pay, protection & benefits.

We don't have to let it happen. @USProgressives @stateinnovation @LocalProgress: How about a competition to see who can protect gig-workers? 5/6
