I didn't vote for the UCP in 2019, despite believing that I fall on the centre-right side of the political spectrum. There have been plenty of things that have made me feel *very* at peace with that decision over the last year-plus, and the last few days have been no exception.
Between the Premier suggesting that the South Asian community needed a wake-up call while he stayed silent on the anti-mask protest in his city yesterday, and the top "Issues Manager" drawing a level of equivalence between that anti-mask rally and #BlackLivesMatter today...
...and the way the press secretaries have gone after one of my former profs, @UbakaOgbogu (who, by the way, has the rare gift of making 'getting up for morning class' worth it), recently ...
...I'm increasingly of the view that, either I'm not conservative or they're not conservative. Because I refuse to believe that there's a single political label that creates a tent big enough for me to feel comfortable being even remotely associated with stuff like that.
And, even if I could somehow stomach ignoring the blatantly offensive sideshows, it's not like we've been winning on the substantive policy front here, either. Our COVID numbers are as bad as anywhere in Canada. Our vital energy sector deserves better than the war room.
Our fiscal outlook pre-COVID wasn't looking materially better than it did under the previous government. The list goes on, and on, and on, and on. There has to be a better alternative. There just has to be.
(Re-posting the last tweet in this thread b/c I have an irrational dislike of typos in my tweets.)

About a year ago someone reached out with advice and suggested that I temper my criticism if I had any desire to run for office down the line. I'm beyond that. Enough is enough.
