Using the control of, violence towards and subjugation of women to excuse the kind of transohobia that comes out of these arguments is just shocking to me. Yes it explains some of the fear, some of the conflict, but it does not excuse it. Not even close
The irony in blaming misogyny, portraying gender critical women as victims, when trans people tell them how their words have real life consequences for them, then completely failing to address that harm & where it has lead, like hateful campaigns to defund LGBT orgs here & UK

Maybe it hurts more when women, who have experienced control & abuse,turn around&do the exact same to section of women. Black women,Traveller women,migrant women, disabled women, Trans women. We expect better

Apply this to people who said MarRef undermined sanctity of marriage or their own parenthood. That it took something from them. Patriarchy created those views too

The call at the end to just let everyone have their own views completely ignored the fact that one sets of these views, how they're primarily communicated causes immeasurable harm to the other. And that is why we have fought so hard to keep that kind of "feminism" out of Ireland
Also, Fintan using his column in the paper of record to declare gender critical feminists "legitimate", when publications are showing the damage it is doing to LGBT organisation & Trans people lives in the UK is just so dissapinting,& yet has felt so inevitable the past few days
