/ Aspiring VCs, know that you will say no to founders far more often than you say yes. There will be plenty of time when you say no and founders will get defensive and even angry. This is why many VCs are very nice and don't always give direct feedback.

/ But as an Aspiring VC, consider this. There is far more power in being honest and truly trying to help a founder than just being nice and giving them no clear understanding of where their company actually is in terms of investment.

/ Yes this might make a few founders upset and maybe even get you a bad review or 2 on @VCGuideHQ, But for the founders who get it they will always respect your honesty and trust you in a way they won't with everyone else.

/ @chxdhxll of http://Remodelmate.com  wasn't happy when I told him the truth about his company when they were only 3 months old, 18 months later I was his first investor and always the first person he calls because he knows he can trust me

/ The ability to build relationships like that with founders is far more valuable than just being nice but lacking substantive feedback on why you said no. This may be a contrarian view but I find it to be what works for me and may help you
