Isolation and Connection, a thread

Isolation is common,

Isolated people are by definition not connected

So we don’t hear from them.

Isolation causes mental and physical health issues.

The solution is community, but how?

Isolation is Dangerous
🎯 Isolation threatens our health.

🎯 Isolation related stress decreases mental and physical health.

🎯 Lack of connection feels like our survival is threatened,

🎯 If we lost connection with our care-givers, it was life-threatening.
🎯 Our Amygdala still signals this danger today.

🎯 This sets off a cascade of adrenaline, cortisol, and stress which often leads to earlier metabolic and chronic disease.

10 Minute Tips for Connection

🎯 Connect with Active Listening: get curious, ask follow-ups
🎯 Micro-moments of connection physically rewire our brains.

🎯 Schedule calls with people you haven’t heard from. Get to know them.

We can each reduce isolation by getting curious about each other!
