I’m seeing a lot of misinformation about the Rosario Dawson situation. There were no ‘dropped charges’ against Dawson as she was not criminally charged.

HOWEVER — that is not exculpatory, and I’m not using that to diminish the claims against her... the opposite in fact.
When you sue someone in civil court, you have place yourself directly within the legal proceedings, unlike a criminal case where the government runs the prosecution.

You open yourselves up to liability, intimidation, and more. In cases where there is a power imbalance...
this effect is magnified. Dawson would have expensive lawyers and threats to dangle against her accuser.

Very, very few cases of litigation go to court, and people are way too quick to assume that dropped claims means nothing happened. That’s tough, because then
how then can an accused ever really clear their name? This is made all more complicated when marginalized people (who often don’t have voices) are involved. That’s partially why I haven’t spoken re this, but I do want all my trans followers/friends to know: I support you.
