COVID causes blood vessel injuries and blood clots, which in turn may lead to brain strokes and ischemic organ failures. This can happen while battling COVID, or weeks/months/years after recovery.

Here is a brain imaging of a COVID patient in his early 40s. One can observe multiple large white areas, which indicate acute infarctions due to blood clots. These damages often lead to long-term disabilities, eg, slurred speech, asymmetric loss of motion.
The coronavirus may also directly enter the brain cells, leading to symptoms such as brain fog and delirium.

@apoorva_nyc reported about this study, which was led by Dr. @ericsongg and Professor Iwasaki @VirusesImmunity of @Yale.

Physician have been reporting a surge in strokes since earlier months of 2020, which turned out to be due to COVID. However, many COVID deniers were dismissing such reports as "fear-mongering". By now we know that COVID strokes are widespread & serious. https://twitter.com/SafaMote/status/1253922898798051328?s=20
Neurological symptoms of COVID can become chronic in an estimated 10–35% of patients. They would suffer from painful, disabling problems such as dizziness, sleep difficulties, loss of smell and taste, and cognitive dysfunctions, e.g., memory loss. https://twitter.com/DrEricDing/status/1333171614582714368?s=20
