Medical Specialties as the Presenters, Pro-Dancers and Judges of @bbcstrictly #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly - a thread:

(1) Tess Daly - Emergency Medicine

Protocol driven, doesn’t like to go off script, responsible for keeping things moving and to time without breaching.
(2) Claudia Winkleman - Paediatrics

Superior communication skills across emotional spectrum with celebrities and their parents. Zany dress sense, down with the kids, much more intelligent than everyone else yet humble with it. Secretly everyone is jealous of her.
(3) Zoe Ball - General Practice

Has done it all before from both sides of the ballroom- prefers Monday-Friday and regular hours than weekend work. Provides cradle to grave care throughout a celebrity’s strictly journey.
(4) Anton Du Beke - Care of the Elderly

Works tirelessly to optimise function in those for whom life expectancy in the competition is limited. All about adding life to years rather than years to life. Struggles to keep up to date and no longer contributes to the acute rota.
(5) Oti Mabuse - Plastic Surgery

Equally gifted in enhancing the appearance of the beautiful or reconstructing a complete disaster to something that functions well and defies expectations.
(6) Katya Jones - Neurology

Routines are a bit weird and seem to involve obscure bits of equipment not commonly carried by other doctors. Willing to take on a challenge and push boundaries where others fear to tread.
(7) AljaĹž Ĺ korjanec - Acute Medicine

Excellent all rounder and you’ll learn a lot whilst working with him. Spends so much time at the hospital that the only possible successful marriage is to another Consultant. Lusted after by other staff but unobtainable.
(8) Janette Manrara - General Surgery

Met her husband at work and their paths cross constantly though often with competing interest. Highly passionate and driven in her work. A fan of early starts and late finishes when training to ensure ultimate precision and execution.
(9) Giovanni Pernice - Gynaecology

A lady’s man who has most of his success with those women over the age of 40. Makes women feel better about themselves. Has self-confidence by the bucket load and extensive private work outside that which is publicly funded.
(10) Gorka Marquez - Anaesthetics

2020 has been the year you’ve realised how important he is. Fanatical about fitness outside of work and high social media presence. Disproportionately popular with gay men.
(11) Karen Hauer - Obstetrics

Manages to bring an air of danger into what should be an everyday occurrence. Phenomenal work ethic and stamina. Fights to the bitter end to try and achieve a good outcome.
(12) Dianne Buswell - Vascular Surgery

All or nothing dependent on the case. Has the adrenaline and enthusiasm to tackle a ruptured aortic aneurysm but fails to make much of an impression if all she has to work with is a set of varicose veins. A good job she likes red stuff.
(13) Johannes Radebe - Clinical Oncology

Pushes boundaries and not afraid to do so. Always trialling something new. Pastoral yet cerebral. Has far more to give than we have discovered yet.
(14) Lyuba Mushtuk - Ophthalmology

Largely outpatient work and tends to keep a low profile though will liaise with General Practice and other specialities to remind us of her importance. Yet to have full opportunity to shine.
(15) Amy Dowden - Gastroenterology

Lives with IBD herself and doesn’t let it define her and expects the same of her celebrities. Eternal optimist. Has had a rough ride in the past but currently seems to be flourishing during a period of remission.
(16) Neil Jones - Diabetology

Somewhat frustrated that despite his knowledge most of his patients are managed by other people in the community so not very visible. Happy to teach if given the opportunity and likes to collaborate.
(17) Craig Revel Horwood - Radiology

Holds a lot of power and will soon find out whether you are well versed in knowledge or blagging it.Softens with familiarity.Reports are short and concise.Although harsh in delivery, you agree with most of what he says.Keep on his good side.
(18) Shirley Ballas - Orthopaedics

Old school. Knows what she likes and what she doesn’t like. Predictable. All about footwork, arm placement and posture. Not looking for miracles but needs people to put the graft in, turn up on time and be organised. Don’t cross her.
(19)Motsi Mabuse - Cardiologist

All about the heart. Will analyse and determine best course of action. Has the flamboyance for acute interventional work and will try and put a positive spin on those living with failure.
(20) Bruno Tonioli - Pathology

Whilst vital to the overall function of the organisation he tends to go off at a tangent if given too much opportunity to talk and teach. The salient bits of his report are hidden within a load of waffle you don’t really understand. Means well.
(21) Rylan Clark-Neal - OOH GP

A more recent addition to the primary care offer, his workload is skewed towards the weekend. Very much a portfolio career type who works across multiple organisations.
(22) Gethin Jones - Liaison Psychiatry

Works across the organisation providing in reach as and when demand requires. Tends to be called upon most when other parts of the system are struggling. Explores anxiety and worries of contestants on behalf of others.
(23) Ian Waite - Microbiology

Only has access to small samples of footage but puts these under the microscope to examine in fine detail and makes suggestions to increase chance of a better outcome. Largely out of view but visible for a weekly specialist ward round.
(24) Dave Arch (and his wonderful, orchestra) - Haematology

All other specialities interact and depend on him. Rarely seen and in the background but integral to the success of the show. All the pros depend on him and will seek guidance before planning risky procedures.
