@WHO World malaria report 2020 reviews the unprecedented #malaria response in the last 2 decades. 1.5B cases & 7.6M deaths averted. But progress has stalled at 200M cases & 400K deaths each year. Leaders need to renew their commitment to #EndMalaria.

Effective use of limited resources in #malaria high-burden countries is critical. With the use of local data, we can optimize the choice & delivery of intervention mixes. The goal: moving towards locally tailored solutions in lieu of a "one-size-fits-all" approach.

The World malaria report 2020 suggests that a 25% disruption in access to effective antimalarials due to #COVID19 could lead to an additional 46,000 #malaria deaths in 2020. Malaria services can be safely maintained by adapting our responses in the context of the pandemic.
Despite remarkable achievements in controlling #malaria cases & deaths over the last 2 decades, progress is slowing down. In 2019, the estimated no. of deaths is 409,000 compared to 411,000 in 2018. We need to break our business-as-usual approach to #EndMalaria.
