Clashes in France as the first phase of a deeply authoritarian new law is passed in the lower courts. The law will make it illegal for citizens to film police at certain times and give the police the power to decide on a whim who is and isn't a reporter.
Luckily (for the sake of freedom and democracy), the people of France are not as pacified as the rest of Western Europe. They have been protesting this diabolical new law all over #Paris tonight.
About this draconian new law Macron is trying to bring in.
(To be clear, there is nothing "bias" about me pointing out how horrifically authoritarian this proposed law is, so don't start. The law is incredibly authoritarian. That is a fact. I will not mince my words.)
This already feels quite spicy. People are fuming with the fact they've been locked down, there's national outrage in France over the recent beheadings, and now Macron is trying to bring in this authoritarian law. All within a year of the Yellow Vests.
This is a not a small crowd by any means. Looks like it'll be a hot winter in Paris.
