Early years:

1882:

John Anderson Bobby Buckle and Hamilton Casey met underneath a streetlamp on Tottenham High Road, just yards from, our new stadium. Members of Hotspur Cricket Club, they were seeking a sport to play in the winter months. ‘Hotspur Football Club’ was born.
1884: Club re-named 'Tottenham Hotspur Football Club'

1885:
first competitive match versus St. Albans Spurs won 5-2. First credit balance nine shillings.

1887: was their first meeting with Arsenal the match abandoned 15 minutes from time 'owing to darkness' Spurs are 2-1 up.
1895:

Spurs adopt professionalism.

1898:
A match against Woolwich Arsenal attracts a record crowd of 14,000 spectators. Change of colours to white shirts and blue shorts.

1899:
The Club moves to White Hart Lane

1900:
Spurs become Champions of the Southern League.
1901:

Spurs win the FA Cup to become the only non-League club, following the formation of the Football League in 1888, ever to achieve this honour.

1908:

Entry secured to the Second Division of the Football League.

1909:

Promotion to First Division gained at first attempt.
1910:

Tottenham famous copper Cockerel makes its debut the centrepiece was made and fixed to the mock-Tudor gable of the new West Stand in November, 1909.

1912:

The Spurs squad that undertook a hectic European campaign in May 1912, playing eight games in three weeks.

I have to Share the story of Walter Tull:

Walter Tull was a former Tottenham Hotspur player with Afro-Caribbean descent, Walter made history as the first black officer to lead white British soldiers into battle. He was KIA on the 8th of March 1918.

1920:

The team clinched the Second Division championship in style, unbeaten at home, 103 goals.

1921:

Second FA Cup triumph, Spurs beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
 
1934:

The old East Stand at the Lane is completed, including the iconic 'Shelf'.
Arthur Rowe Success:

1949:

A key appointment as Arthur Rowe becomes manager. Tottenham-born, Rowe was a visionary who brought the famous 'push and run' style to Spurs ,

1950:

Tottenham won the Second Division

1951:

Our first First Division championship in 1950-51.
Bill Nicholson “Mr Tottenham” Era 1958-1973

1958:
He won his first match 10-4 against Everton

1959:

One of the Club's all-time great signings, Dave Mackay, the heartbeat of the double side, joined us from Hearts in March, 1959. He's pictured with skipper Danny Blanchflower.
1961:

Football League Champions and winners of The FA Cup. The first Club to complete the 'Double' since Preston North End and Aston Villa did so in 1889 and 1897 respectively.

1962:

Winners again of the FA Cup.
1963:

Winners of the European Cup-Winners' Cup. The first British Club to win a major European competition. Jimmy Greaves becomes Spurs' highest league goal scorer in one season with 37 goals.

1967:
FA Cup winners for the fifth time.

1971:
Winners of the Football League Cup
1972:

Spurs became the first British team to win two different European trophies and the first team to win the Europa League (UEFA CUP).
1974

End of a Bill Nicholson Era

Winners of the Football League Cup. The first club to have won the trophy twice.

Bill Nicholson Retired after a 36 year association with Tottenham Hotspur. In total Nicholson had won eight major trophies in sixteen years.
Decline and revival under Keith Burkinshaw 1974-1984:

Although Tottenham managed to reach four cup finals in four years and winning three of them from 1971 to 1974, the team began to decline 1/2
as Nicholson was unable to sign the players he wanted, in part because of his refusal to meet the demands for under-counter payments.
The early seventies was also the beginning of a period of increasing football violence; rioting by Spurs fans in the 1974 UEFA Cup Final 2/2
1977:
Relegation
In Burkinshaw's first year as manager in the season, Tottenham slipped out of the First Division after 27 years in the top flight.

1978:
Despite relegation, the board kept faith with Burkinshaw and the team immediately won promotion to the top flight
1979:
In the summer of 1978, Burkinshaw caused a stir by signing for £750,000 two Argentinian internationals Osvaldo Ardiles and Ricardo Villa players from beyond the British Isles in English football were rare at the time.
1981:

FA Cup winners for the sixth time. Steve Perryman sets a new Club record of League appearances by passing Pat Jennings' previous record total of 472.

1982:

New West Stand opened. FA Cup winners for the seventh time in the Club's Centenary year.
1984

Winners of the UEFA Cup for the second time.
1985:

Playing strip changed to white shirts and white shorts.

1986:
Steve Perryman transferred to Oxford United after making a record 655 League appearances for Spurs.

1987:
Spurs reach eighth FA Cup Final. Clive Allen sets a new Club record with 49 goals in a single season.
1991
FA Cup winners for eighth time and back in European competition.
1999
Winners of the League Cup for the third time.
