Many of us have been fortunate enough to use something called "curbside pickup" at retailers since COVID started.

Groceries.
Target.
Nordstrom.

Using curbside pickup allows us to stay in the comfort of our cars while someone, usually who makes minumum wage (or slighly above) does our shopping and brings items to our cars.

The holiday season has increased the demand for this service. These people are probably not making more money, but they are working twice as hard AND their stores are packed.

Yesterday I found out that my super old copy of Office Space would not play any more. I ordered one from Best B Buy and did curbside pick up.

While sitting out front today, I saw dozens of cars get their items. Computers. Tvs. Stacks of DVDs. Gaming systems.

BMW, Benz, Audi, Range Rovers.

NOT ONE PERSON TIPPED.

I have always tipped at pickup pre holiday season. I keep a stack of printed out $5 amazon gift cards in case I don't have cash. I am not wealthy, but I am grateful that I do not have to go into stores if I feel uncomfortable.

I saw the same one kid - late high school or college (hard to tell with a mask) HUSTLING to get people their items. Some people didn't even interact. They just popped their trunk.

He came over to my car, dvd in hand, smiling eyes.

I handed him a $10 and apologized for all the other assholes I saw before me not tipping him. It is disgusting that RIGHT NOW, during COVID, people aren't doing the bare minimum.

IF YOU CAN AFFORD A NEW LAPTOP, YOU CAN TIP $10.

Point of the rant is this: These retail staffers are working incredibly hard during a pandemic. They are busting their ass so that YOU CAN STAY IN YOUR CAR.

There is ZERO excuse for you to not tip $5 or $10.

So please, tip.

If you don't want to leave cash tips, you can buy printable amazon gift cards in any amount. I like to keep a few $5 ones in my car. You don't have to sign your name.
