We have 900+ units feasible to start in 2021 through #HamiltonisHome, and could #Build3000 units in next three years. Civic issues are complex, but when current solutions aren’t working any more, we can rethink investment strategies to get better results.
How much does it cost to enforce bylaws/relocate encampments every two weeks? Is #supportivehousing cheaper than using Emerg. for routine healthcare? Is housing-based-healthcare cheaper than treating mental health & addiction on the curb? Homes are a pandemic safety measure.
As a taxpayer, I want max #publicbenefits from #publicinvestments. As a citizen, I want a community where everyone belongs. With @cityofhamilton as catalyst, how much further could @CMHC_ca, @OntarioHealthOH and other investments go to solving homelessness? All the way, for sure!
