One of the things that is tough about GM/DMing in TTRPG that I don't see talked about a lot is the feeling of guilt after an encounter doesn't go well for the players.

It is a shared-but-separate experience, and I think in that way it can wind up being oddly isolating.
Including my usual "this isn't true for all GMs, BUT" caveat, most of the GMs I know really DO want the players to succeed, but also want to provide challenges and obstacles, and antagonists. Those can be tough ingredients to juggle when you're also rooting for your friends!
Oh and, 40 mins later, I do have some advice for this: talk to other GMs! Even if it's just on a forum or discord channel, being able to express these feelings with someone else who has been there, in a way that doesn't heft it onto the players, is a healthy practice.
