This offside bullshit needs to go. Sorry. I can’t remember the last time I celebrated a goal. Every single one is a case of waiting for the technical review. Overturn decisions that are clear errors otherwise stay with the on pitch decision. Every game now descends into farce.
Millimeter offsides either way are just arbitrary. Accurately calling those doesn’t improve the game in the slightest. It just means nobody celebrates goals any more.
The thing about really close offsides is that a) the attacking team still has to do something good to score and b) opposition can still prevent the goal. Morally there’s no unfair advantage involved.
It’s a really stupid idea to take a hugely popular sport based on rare scoring events and impose doubt onto every one of those rare events. Really, really stupid.
Last week against Leicester I didn’t celebrate any of the goals. Didn’t celebrate the winners vs Sheff Utd or West Ham either.
