If yall didn't know Peñarol is a prestigious club in south America having won 5 libertadores, but today they are in the shadows of their former selves
The peñarol curse is this: Peñarol can't get past the libertadores groupstage since 2012, this curse seems to never end
In 2012 after humiliating Caracas Fc in the copa Libertadores qualifiers they were drawn in group 8
With Universidad the chile, Atletico Nacional and Godoy Cruz

They had a bad start on the first matchday in the group losing 0-1 to Godoy Cruz
In matchday 2 they were humiliated at home losing 4-0 to Atletico Nacional
In matchday 3 they played away against Ud Chile and lost 2-1 lost all 3 games at the time
Peñarol played the away game against Atletico Nacional and were once again humiliated this time 3-0 and confirming their elimination from the competition
Peñarol drew 1-1 to Universidad de Chile at home
After that in their last match they played against Godoy cruz at home started in a bad way 0-2 down at half-time but made a great comeback making it 4-2 Peñarol got their first ever groupstage win
This is how the table looked at the end of the groupstage UD Chile and Atletico Nacional going to the round of 16 Godoy cruz going to the sudamericana and Peñarol finishing bottom of the table
Now moving to the 2013 Copa Libertadores Peñarol were drawn in group 4 with Vélez Sarsfield, Elmenec and Deportes Iquique
A difference to the last year peñarol started better won 2-1 to Deportes Iquique and winning and winning 1-0 in Campeom del Siglo stadium(Peñarols Home Stadium)
They got their first ever defeat against Vérlez Sarsfield losing 0-1 i the last minutes at home
They lost again to Vérlez Sarsfield away losing 3-1
In the matchday 5 Peñarol supporters started to get nervous after losing 1-0 away to Elmelec in the last minutes of the game
In the last Matchday Peñarol won 3-0 against Deportes Iquique, they now needed Vélez Sarsfield to defeat Elmelec to qualify to the round of 16 but they drew so Peñarol was knocked out

Now moving to the 2014 groupstages Peñarol were drawn against Santos Laguna, Arsenal and Dep. Anzoátegui
On the first matchday peñarol just managed to get a draw against Dep. Anzoátegui away from home
Then Peñarol lost 2-0 to Santos Laguna at the Campeon del Siglo stadium (Peñarols home stadium)
In matchday 3 Peñarol lost 1-0 to Arsenal
In matchday 4 playing Arsenal again playing at home even though being 0-1 down at half-time Peñarol made a comeback making it 2-1
But in matchday 5 they were eliminated by Santos Laguna playing away from home
In matchday 6 Peñarol couldn't even beat Dep. Anzoátegui ending 1-1

After missing out Libertadores football in 2015, in 2016 They were drawn in group 4 with Atletico Nacional, Huracán and Sporting Cristal
On matchday 1 peñarol drew to Sporting Cristal playing away from home
In matchday 2 Peñarol lost to Huracán, losing 0-1
In matchday day 3 Peñarol lost to Atletico Nacional 2-0 playing away from home
In matchday 4 Peñarol played Atletico Nacional at home, then Peñarol were humiliated 0-4
In matchday 5 Peñarol then drew 0-0 to Huracán playing away from home and that sealed their elimination
In Matchday 6 Peñarol played against Sporting Cristal away from home and won for the first time in that groupstage winning 4-3

Moving on to 2017 Peñarol were drawn in group 5 against Palmeiras, Jorge Wilstermann and Atlético Tucumán
