A few quick thoughts on @fsufootball. First, FSU has now lost 2.5-3 million in EARNINGS (not revenue) by missing the last 2 home games. If you think they’re canceling to avoid losses I can’t help you. They want to play these games. (1-9)
It obviously benefits FSU to get the home games back, but it also behooves the ACC to reschedule these games because every game = TV rev for the league. Guestimates on TV revenue per game is $2.5 mil per game. (2-9)
So FSU/Clem, Wake/ND 12/12 (why would ND play if ACC cancels FSU/Clem?), FSU/UVA-that’s roughly 7.5m. Even taking out travel costs & rounding down, it’s $6.5m divided by 16 shares (ND gets full share, ACC gets a share) = over $400k more per school if the games are played. (3-9)
In the world of big college athletic budgets, maybe that seems insignificant. It’s not, especially in a COVID year. And we’re talking a ND TV game and an FSU/Clem game, so the $ may be higher. (4-9)
