Normally I don’t play Christmas carols until December 1st, but it’s a hell year and tomorrow is the first Sunday in advent, and in technical religious terms Sunday starts at sundown tonight, which is like three hours away, so.
One of my favourite French carols as a kid was Entre le boeuf et l’âne gris because it sounded so sad. I also really liked the extra verse in the French jingle bells, where the melody kind of goes off-piste for a while
Oh also shout out to Lo How A Rose E’er Blooming, an oft-overlooked gem of the season
