It's Small Business Saturday! Owning a small business for the last few years have taught me so much: things about myself, things about my neighborhood and community. I am deeply proud of @booksaremagicbk, and so grateful to be a part of the community of (1/7)
independent bookstores in NYC, and of indie bookstores all across the country. This season is crucial to the health of so many small businesses. Shop with your heart this year, folks, because otherwise, your favorite places might not be there next year. (2/7)
Bookstores, restaurants, art supply shops, clothing stores, you name it! You can help make sure that your fave places can pay their rent, can pay their incredible employees, can afford to buy whatever it is that you enjoy. (3/7)

those are just a few! I could do this all day long! Owning a small business has been, by far, the hardest thing I've ever done, including giving birth to two children, and writing five books, and being a person in the world. Please remember that for (6/7)
every business you patronize, there is someone up all night, worrying about it, thinking about it, dreaming about it, and wanting to make it be the best it can be. Do what you can for the places you love! They are always, always, always doing what they can for you. (7/7)
